GOLD RUSH TRAIL SLED DOG MAIL RUN
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FOR PARTICIPANTS

Please submit this form along with your completed Registration Form

The Gold Rush Trail Sled Dog Mail Run is not a race but rather a participation event that is run over wilderness trails and roads between Quesnel, Cottonwood, Troll Resort, Stanley, Barkerville and Wells B.C. The competition is really a personal one as participants endeavour to test their own abilities and those of their sled dogs against the challenges of the trail and weather conditions. The spirit of the Mail Run is one of fun, adventure, mutual support and safety.  Organizers endeavour to minimize hazards and to ensure the well-being of participants, however there is a risk to personal safety involved in travelling by dog team, snowshoes or skis over isolated trails in winter conditions. Risk factors include unanticipated heavy snowfall, becoming lost, extreme cold temperatures, separation from dog team, physical injury due to falls or other accidents, hypothermia and other unforeseen factors.

·       I will endeavour to ensure my own personal safety by carrying recommended safety gear and equipment on my sled or pack.

·       I am confident that I and my sled dogs are conditioned and capable of completing the physically demanding sections of the route that I will undertake to travel.

·       At all times I will err on the side of caution. If I am concerned about trail conditions or weather I will opt for the safest possible option, even if that requires waiting in one place or choosing to withdraw from the event.

·       I ensure that to my knowledge my sled dogs are not ill, that they have current vaccinations and that there is no infectious disease in my kennel at this time.

·       I will respect all private property and the rights and needs of all participants

AGREEMENT- I agree to be responsible for my conduct and the conduct of my dogs and my dog handlers and to accept the decision of event officials as final. I shall not hold the sponsors, officials, volunteers, members of the Gold Rush Trail Sled Dog Association nor any other persons involved with this event liable for any injury or damage to myself, my dogs or my equipment. I understand and agree to abide by the provisions governing this race.

BY SIGNING THIS WAIVER FORM, I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE CONDITIONS AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE SPIRIT OF THE MAIL RUN.
